The Nicholson Family Plague continues...

For the past week, 75% of the Nicholsons have been well. It's been nice.

Matthew's common cold led to Bronchitis and then to an ear infection. He's currently on an antibiotic and breathing treatments. Although he's been sick for about 7 weeks straight, he's still my all smiles little man :)

Oh yeah, and he now has 2 teeth.

Matthew seems to feel pretty good...Only the occasional cough. So, I could see that complete Nicholson wellness was right around the corner.

And then Emily came home from daycare yesterday with a low grade fever.

So much for my vision of wellness.

Her fever reached about 102 last night, then dropped. She woke up with about 102 again today. And so the battle of medicine begins again. My little girl HATES taking medicine. Dada is at the deer lease, so I get to play this game all day by myself.

I've managed to get 2 doses of Tylenol down her, keeping her temperature around 102. As soon as a dose wears off, her fever spikes...103...104...at one point even 105!

So I'm sure I'll be back at good ol' Beaumont Pediatrics bright and early Monday morning, missing my first day of school for '10-'11 already. What a great way to make an impression on my new principal, right?

If you're still reading this, you must love me and/or my kids, so thank you! This pity party I'm throwing myself makes Cory and I confused about my breastfeeding.

I've always known I would breastfeed my children. I have no idea why, but I just never really looked at it as a choice. I honestly thought formula was only for the unfortunate mothers who physically could not breastfeed. First of all, breastmilk is the absolute best thing I can feed my children. God blessed me with this liquid gold, made especially for my children. A perfect match. Second of all, breastfed babies have a higher immune system.

That was definitely true for Emily. She didn't have her first sick visit to the doctor until after her 1st birthday! She went through about 5-6 months when she was sick a lot, and then it just stopped. She's had a few allergies, but she's pretty much been healthy overall.

Until February. She got a cold the week she started daycare. And has been sick, on and off, ever since...stomach viruses, colds, sinus infections, pneumonia...

Matthew, on the other hand, has had more sick visits to the doctor than well visits! But...He's also in daycare.

I thought breastmilk was supposed to protect my children??

Well, I hate to blame The Nicholson Family Plague entirely on daycare, but I just don't know what else to think. Don't get me wrong: this post is not meant to bash my daycare. I have the best daycare in the area. I've spent a lot of time there, and they are clean! I wouldn't take my kids from daycare, even if Mindy Stanley herself offered to keep my kids again! I just wasn't expecting all this sickness.

Okay, that was a slight lie...I'd probably let her keep Matthew ;)

Regardless of the cause, it is frustrating and stressful.

Pressure to be a good Christian and make it to church.
Pressure to be a good wife to my supportive husband.
Pressure to be a good mom to my precious kids.
Pressure to be a good teacher to my new students.
Pressure to post sessions and fulfill orders for Nicholson Photography.

Now I'm rambling. Sorry! Thank you for "listening."

Your reward for reading all that...Photos of my beautiful children, of course!

Emily...m&m's wouldn't even convince her:

Newsletter

Happy “Back to School” to my blog readers!

As most of you know, I am also a teacher. I went back to work Monday, and the main thing that’s different about this school year is that I have 2 CHILDREN!

Let me just say:
Full time teacher + Part time photographer + Full time mom of 2 = Challenging!

As I adjust to this new schedule, I appreciate your patience waiting on your sessions to be posted and orders to be fulfilled. If you have a deadline, please let me know so I can make it a priority. If you contact me and do not hear back, feel free to contact me again!

The urban location for the fall special won on the poll, but not by much. I will offer this location w/no session fee (as long as you prepay a package online). This will happen sometime in October…Late enough to use photos for Christmas cards, and soon enough to use for Halloween costumes or just cute fall outfits :)

Depending on the turnout of the urban location, I may also offer the Knupple Park location…This may be in late October, maybe even early November. If you like that location and would like a session there sooner, feel free to contact me for a regular session.

Thanks!

Matthew's Baptism Portrait

So 3 months later I am working on printing Matthew's baptism portrait :)

I plan on putting together a shadow box frame for Emily's baptism and for Matthew's baptism, including their portrait, cloth, candle, etc.

Now, I had many better ideas for Matthew's baptism portrait than what I did for Emily, but I had to keep them the same :(

I would like for you to use the poll on my sidebar to vote for which portrait of Matthew you think I should frame alongside Emily's!

The captions are above the images.

Here is Emily's from 3 years ago:

2010 Fall Special??

Now that the summer special is just about over, it's time to start thinking about a fall special!

I've decided there will be no props this year...no pumpkins, hay, etc.

So...choices:

Urban (downtown Beaumont)

or

Knupple Park (Silsbee)

Yes, I know, a lot of you have had sessions done at these locations. So, my plan is--I will let you decide on the poll to your right.

I will do that location first, and, if my time/schedule permits, I will offer the other location later in the season.

The poll will be open for 7 days so vote now!

Here are some images from each location to help you decide....
