Things are finally getting back to normal around my house. Back to work, back to school. We've had to pull up carpet in two rooms, so we're living in other parts of the house...A little cluttered. Lost the food in the refrigerator, not much other than that. So, we can't complain too much. Although we hadn't planned on evacuating for Hurricane Ike, we left at the last minute on Friday afternoon. We stayed a few days in Leander, near Austin, with Cory's parents. Here are some shots from our "hurrication."
Paw-Paw Nicholson took us sight seeing around town...On this next one of Emily, I can't decide if I like color or black & white better...What do you think?
We had fun at the capitol...
Again...Color or Black & White?

Today was the first day of Mother's Day Out. I have been so anxious about it. I was nervous last night, packing her backpack and lunch, worried I would forget something. She met a new friend, Mia, and started playing with her right away. She didn't even notice we left.
As I was walking back into work, I started reading over her September calendar, and it hit me how big she is! This month they will learn A, M, 0, 1, red, yellow, circle, Old Mother Hubbard, Baby Moses, and meet a policeman. Wow! My little girl is not a baby anymore.
For lunch, I packed her cut-up wienies, bananas, and gerber crunchies. When I was unpacking everything this evening, we found a few stray cheetos...Ha! I guess she shared with someone. I'm sure she just reached over and helped herself to some poor child's lunch.
Emily's sitter has her daughter at Mother's Day Out as well, but they are in different classes. All the children went outside on the playground, and they found each other. I bet they were glad to see one another. I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch her learn and interact with the other children.
I know she will love this, and I have made a great decision for her...This is a big step for all of us!
Now for an overload of pictures!

She may be our first female vice-president, so, of course, I am interested in her and her life. I wasn't ready for Hillary, but I am ready for Sarah.
I have read a little about her...Education is one of her priorities, and she opposes same-sex marriage and abortion. Her husband is active in snowmobile racing, she is sports team mom and school volunteer, and she runs marathons! Sarah's son is in the army, so that will give her perspective on international events and the impacts of war. Her unmarried 17 year old daughter is pregnant, and many would look down on that, but I admire Palin for being honest about it in the beginning. We can't judge Palin for her daughter's choices. I also read that Sarah admits to smoking marijuana, when it was decriminalized in Alaska. So, she's not perfect, but like I said, honest. Her newest son was born with down syndrome. I have faith that God only gives you what he knows you can handle, so I know she is a strong woman.
She and her family seem well-rounded. We have to look at reality...Considering McCain's age and questionable health, she could be America's first female president! She is young and attractive, and I look forward to what she has to offer our country.

Just wanted to share some recent pictures of Emily.
These were all taken in August...16 months old.
Having fun with Paw-Paw Nicholson.
Love this wash tub and bubbles!
Had to share the color version as well.
Like the barn in the background? Stay tuned...My fall special will be here, too.
Playing with my friend Jennifer's dog after the wash tub session. She loves dogs!
